Constance Jones, 79, died Saturday at the Gardens of Green Ridge after a lengthy illness. Her husband of 52 years, Robert J. Jones, preceded her in death in 2017. Born in Minooka, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Victoria (Butkiewicz) Yarrish. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish.
A graduate of South Catholic High School, Connie worked in surgery scheduling for Community Medical Center prior to retirement.
Connie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of the Waldorf Club on East Mountain and was involved and assisted with the operation of the club and attended all of their events. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling with her husband.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra Balik and husband, David, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, Robert Jones, of Scranton; three grandchildren: Timothy and Jamie Jones and Ian Balik; four great-grandchildren: CJ, Timmy, Aurora, and Jude; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Jones.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to the Gardens of Green Ridge & to Hospice Services for all of the care, compassion & support given to her during her illness.
Friends and family may call Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton, immediately followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
