Josephine Saccone

Josephine M. Saccone, 93, of South Scranton, died Wednesday at Allied Services Hospice Center.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Dominic and Philomena Pinelly Saccone, she was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in South Scranton.

A graduate of St. John's High School, she was a copy editor at International Correspondence Schools for many years and earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton, where she was a member of the Alumni Society.

She is survived by family members, Barbara Martin, Mark Martin, Amy and Jason Warner, Lois and Robert Williamson and Marianne and Donald Meichenbaum; and many additional cousins.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to her exceptional longtime caregiver, Suzanne Rossi.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Nicholas and wife, Jeanne Ryan Saccone; and Joseph A. Saccone and wife, Elizabeth.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home, 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., celebrated by the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor, followed by interment at Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the church before Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Josephine's name to St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 2127 Prospect Ave., Scranton PA 18505; or the charity of the donor's choice.
