Flavia Murazzi

Flavia Murazzi, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Flavia Murazzi, 90, of South Scranton, who died Sunday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart after suffering from a stroke. Her husband of 52 years, Hugo Murazzi Sr., preceded her in death in November of 2007. Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Rinaldo and Rose Lucrezi Pierelli. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish until its closing, and later St. Paul of the Cross and St. Teresa of Calcutta parishes.

A graduate of Scranton Technical High School where she was the head cheerleader Indian for the Red Raiders, Flavia was a later member of the Young at Heart and After 50 clubs in South Scranton.

Flavia deeply loved her family and friends, never missing the opportunity to attend her grandchildren's sporting or theatrical events. She will be remembered as an amazing cook who loved family gatherings. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons, Ron Murazzi and wife, Debbie (Benton Twp.); and Hugo Murazzi Jr. and wife, Donna (Pittston Twp.); two grandchildren, Michele and Peter Murazzi; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Boris and Lee Tabarrini.

The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., followed by entombment at Italian American Cemetery. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave. Those attending the Mass on Wednesday are asked to proceed directly to the church.
