Michael G. Skotleski

Michael G. Skotleski, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Michael G. Skotleski, 83, of South Scranton, passed away Wednesday at Geisinger CMC. His wife of 62 years, the former Margaret Mary Toole, passed away in February.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Michael M. and Mary Huddy Skotlewski. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish until it closed and later St. Paul of the Cross Parish.

Mike served in the United States Navy on the destroyer USS Murray (DD-576). He worked for 70 years, starting at Cedar Lanes setting bowling pins at the age of 13, and finally at Home Depot in Dickson City, where he was an admired associate. He was also a manager at IGA and worked at William Edwards Florist and owned and operated Nossals Florist in Olyphant for 16 years.

A member of the St. Mary's Parish Club and his beloved Ring Toss League, Mike enjoyed bowling, polka and square dancing, camping and fishing. A very handy fix-it man, he loved his Home Depot family and his many dogs, especially Molly and Buddy. Most of all, he devoted all of his energy to his beloved wife and children. Mike will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan Krum and husband, Stephen (Danville); four sons, Michael and wife, Debbie (Throop); Thomas and wife, Theresa, (Dalton); Jerome (Dickson City) and William and wife, Jaime, (Olyphant); eight grandchildren, Holly Schmidt, Kyle, Kristen, Tessa and Troy Skotleski, Sarah Harvey and Aaron Krum, and Cole Skotleski; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a son, David; and an infant daughter, Mary; a sister, Regina; and three older brothers, Leonard, Sylvester and Narcy.

The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church at St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., celebrated by the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor, followed by interment at Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton, PA 18505. Capacity limits will be strictly enforced and face coverings are required. Expect delays as we ask that you limit time with family and respect physical distance guidelines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, or at griffinpondanimalshelter.com.
