Sharon A. Nee

Sharon A. Nee, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Sharon A. Nee, 72, of Scranton, Pa., passed away due to complications from dementia on Nov. 5. Born on Feb. 13, 1949, to Stanley and Alice Codick, she attended St. Patrick's High School, graduating in 1966, and moved forward to graduate from Marywood University with a master's degree in English.

She was retired from the Scranton School District, where she taught home economics at West Scranton High School for more than 20 years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan who spent countless Sundays yelling at her television screen. Some of her favorite hobbies included reading murder mystery novels, cooking for her family, sewing and painting ceramics. She was very dedicated to her spiritual journey and spent a lot of her time practicing her crafts. She was extremely devoted to her family and to those she made her family along the way. She was a mother to not only her biological children, but also anyone who stumbled through the door with them. Throughout her life she faced many obstacles that she learned from and used to teach the countless lives she touched while she was with us.

She is survived by her three boys, Brendan, Patrick and Michael, and her five stepchildren, Kathy, Colleen, Joey, Brian and James. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Siobhan, Joseph, Brendan, Michael, Kellie, Grace and Vercingetorix, and 12 step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Ashley, Ryan, Kyle, Tyler, Michelle, Katrina, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Connor and Liam.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Lewis; her husband, Joseph M. Nee; and step-daughter, Maureen Nee.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the care they provided and a special thank you to daughter-in-law, Amber Nee, for the many years of caretaking and love she provided to Sharon in her most difficult times.

Friends and family may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home, Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton. Appropriate screening and occupancy reductions will be observed and guests will be asked to limit time spent with the family. Expect delays.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001 or at alzfdn.org.
